Albany middle schooler arrested, accused of threatening school
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 13-year-old girl is facing charges after police said she made threats of violence against Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School.
Police were called around 8 p.m. Tuesday after a threat was made against the school on Snapchat. The messages claimed bombs were placed throughout the middle school and also threatened a school shooting, according to police.
Officers and police K9s conducted a sweep of the school Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The building was determined to be safe, and students and staff were able to enter.
A Myers Middle School student was arrested in connection to the threats and charged with making a terroristic threat and aggravated harassment. She is scheduled to appear at Albany County Probation at a later date. Her identity is not being released due to her age.
The investigation remains ongoing in reference to the threat made at both KIPP Albany Community Charter School and Hackett Middle School, police said.
