Bill Belichick Opens Up About Jordon Hudson's Status With North Carolina

Over the past several weeks, there has been a lot of talk about the relationship between legendary head coach Bill Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson with one report even suggesting that she had been banned from the North Carolina football facilities, where Belichick coaches. This week, Belichick had a telling message on that subject.

Earlier this month, former ESPN reporter Pablo Torre reported on his podcast that Hudson had been banned from the North Carolina football facilities.

“Two sources at the University of North Carolina tell me that there has been a decision that was made last week by the higher-ups inside the athletic department that had hired Bill Belichick to be the highest paid public employee — not just coach in the state of North Carolina at $10 million a year — and that decision was that Jordon Hudson, she is no longer allowed in the football building,” Torre said via Awful Announcing. “She is not allowed on the football field. Quote: ‘Don’t think you’ll be hearing much from Jordon moving forward.'”

North Carolina seemed to refute this report with a statement on the matter, indicating that while Hudson is not employed by North Carolina, she is "welcome to the Carolina Football facilities.

“While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities,” North Carolina said in a statement via Chris Vannini of The Athletic. “Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick’s personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.”

This comes after public records requests revealed that Hudson was involved with the team, though it's not clear if any formal employment contract existed.

Following this statement from North Carolina, Belichick addressed the matter directly during an interview on Good Morning America on Friday morning following a question from anchor and former New York Giants player Michael Strahan.

“A lot has been made also of your professional life, but also your personal life. Because it’s spilled over into your professional life in a lot of ways, and a lot has been made about your relationship with Jordon Hudson. It’s been getting a lot of attention. She isn’t here this morning. But what do you think about all the attention that your relationship has been getting?" Strahan asked Belichick.

Belichick had a pretty telling response to the question and Hudson's status with North Carolina as he made it clear that she is involved with "business things that don't relate to North Carolina."

“Yeah, well, she’s been terrific, you know, through the whole process, and she’s been very helpful to me,” Belichick said according to Pro Football Talk. “She does the business things that don’t relate to North Carolina that come up in my life, so I can concentrate on football and that’s really what I want to do. You know, I acknowledged her in the book, she was very helpful in that with the tribute pages and also given a perspective of the book from kind of a business side, you know, sometimes I get a little football technical and so, you know, she did a good job of keeping me on balance there.”

So, while Hudson was clearly involved in North Carolina in some capacity based on previously obtained documents, it's clear that she is no longer involved with the team or the university, even if she may not be technically "banned."
