Cleveland Co. Sheriff Office addresses inmate death
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office says an inmate at the Cleveland County Detention Center has passed after a medical emergency on Sunday.
According to Cleveland County officials, Carl Douglas Kachel experienced a medical emergency during a routine diabetic check by staff. Officials say detention staff, performed life-saving measures and transported the inmate to Norman Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities say the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is now assisting with the investigation while the Office of the State Medical Examiner determines the official cause of death.
