'Worth roaring about!': Oklahoma City Zoo celebrates lion cubs' first birthday
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The Oklahoma City Zoo is celebrating their African lion cubs' first birthday on Tuesday, May 20.
According to the Zoo, the five male cubs, Hugo, Henri, Lou, Pascal and Herman are hitting a special milestone by turning one.
The cubs, and the rest of the pride, were gifted special enrichment and treats.
“These days, the cubs will interact with anything that they can tear up or sink their teeth into including special treats like cantaloupes and pumpkins, and lion-approved toys,” shared Tyler Boyd, OKC Zoo’s Curator of Carnivore. “However, sticks and their siblings are still the biggest hits!”
Officials say the cubs are thriving and their manes are even starting to grow. They're learning behaviors that will benefit them as they begin to take care of themselves.
Guests can see the lion cubs in the Zoo's lion habitat in Expedition Africa.
