‘The Last of Us’ Season 3 to Spotlight Abby in Narrative Shift
Even with many fans of the popular HBO show The Last of Us struggling to get past the death of Pedro Pascal’s character, Joel Miller, another big twist sounds like it's on the horizon.
While the popular video game adaptation has modeled the television series to be extremely close to the game, this hasn't led to many fans coping well with the loss of Joel.
To add even more intrigue to the situation, The Last of Us Season 3 is primed to shift the focus in a move that's certain to be met with some pushback. This is due to the fact that the change will put the attention on the person who killed Joel, Abby, who Kaitlyn Dever plays.
This was revealed by Catherine O'Hara, who plays Gail, Joel's therapist in Season 2, during an interview with Variety.
When Variety asked if O'Hara would return in the upcoming seasons, she dropped a tidbit, calling Season 3 the "Abby story."
"I don’t know. Craig did say definitely not this next season. It’s the Abby story. Maybe. But I think it was to serve Joel and Ellie," O'Hara said.
While Abby has been controversial due to the disappointment of many fans after she killed Joel, the shift in focus to her character will make for an interesting storyline. It'll be worth watching how the creators make this move, but it sounds like Devers' character is primed to take center stage.
