Turbine fault shuts down Olkiluoto 1 reactor
The Olkiluoto 1 nuclear reactor in western Finland was shut down on Thursday after plant operator Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) detected a turbine malfunction during a post-maintenance restart.
According to TVO, the fault was caused by damage to a pipe connected to the condenser in the turbine facility. The issue was discovered as the reactor was increasing output following its scheduled annual maintenance.
