WNBA Star Brittney Griner Shouts Expletive at Referee During Live Halftime Interview
WNBA superstar Brittney Griner couldn't fathom how she was holding and getting called for fouls during the first half of the Atlanta Dream and Dallas Wings game Saturday night at the Gateway Center in College Park, Ga.
She would eventually help the Dream oust the Wings, 83-75, behind 15 points, 10 of which she scored in the first half. But it was also in the first half when officials called two fouls on Griner for holding, including an offensive foul with 90 seconds left in the second quarter.
She fumed at the calls, and the sentiment continued while she was about to conduct a live halftime interview on CBS Sports Network. After the sideline reporter delivered her question, Griner walked away from the interview and confronted a referee.
“How am I holding?” Griner shouted at the official. “You know I call all my fouls when I foul. I be doing it on purpose. … Be f--king better.”

Griner eventually walked back to do the interview and said, "Sorry, y'all."
The 6-foot-9 center also grabbed eight rebounds to help Atlanta improve to 2-2. Oddly enough, Griner wasn't called for any fouls in the second half. And while the outburst was succinct, it's likely she'll face some kind of punishment -- probably a fine -- from the WNBA.
