Jade Thirlwall Had A Brilliant Way Of Addressing Little Mix's Future During Her First Solo Show

With a handful of hits and a Brit Award already under her belt, Jade Thirlwall reached a new stage in her post-Little Mix career over the weekend when she delivered her first ever solo set.

On Sunday evening, the Angel Of My Dreams singer headlined the New Music Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival in Liverpool, marking her first full show as a solo act.

And Jade wasted absolutely no time in dusting off one of her favourite Little Mix tracks, with the LM5 cut Wasabi dropping in the third spot in her setlist.

Throughout her time in Little Mix, Jade made no secret of her love for the album track, repeatedly expressing her belief that it should have been a single and even reuniting with its producers on her solo debut Angel Of My Dreams.

During her Wasabi performance, Jade even tweaked one of the song’s lyrics to set the record straight about Little Mix’s future.

The original song ends with the line: “She ain’t wearing no clothes, when’s she going solo? I bet they’re gonna break up… but what the hell do you know?”.

When she reached this part of the song, Jade changed the line to “I bet they’re gonna break up… it’s a hiatus”, to once again reassure the Mixers present that the group would be reforming one day.

Later in her set, among her solo hits and a cover of Madonna’s Frozen, Jade also delivered a high-energy medley of Little Mix’s hits Shout Out To My Ex, Sweet Melody, Woman Like Me and Touch.

“I just want to say right now that I love the Little Mix girls with all my heart,” she said after the medley.

“And I’m so, so grateful to the girls, because if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here today, on my own, so shout out to Little Mix!”

Jade also has upcoming sets at festivals like Mighty Hoopla, Glastonbury and All Points East.

She also recently announced the release date for her debut album, That’s Showbiz Baby, on 12 September, as well as her first headlining UK tour later in the year.
