It has been claimed by a reliable source that although Cristian Romero would prefer to join Atletico Madrid, he will stay at Tottenham Hotspur for one more season as long as Ange Postecoglou remains in charge.
Despite Tottenham’s Europa League success and their qualification for the Champions League, the speculation linking Romero with a move to Atletico Madrid has not stopped.
Over recent days, some sources have suggested that Atletico are ready to launch an aggressive assault to land Romero, but that does not mean that the La Liga club will get their man.
Tottenham are expected to fight to hang onto their vice-captain, who has two years left on his contract at N17.

Over the last few days, some outlets have suggested that Romero’s future at Spurs could be tied to the future of Ange Postecoglou.
This has now been backed up by journalist Ruben Uria, who has said that the centre-back will remain at Tottenham as long as the Lilywhites do not sak their head coach.
Uria claimed that the 27-year-old has spoken to Diego Simeone and wants to move to Atletico, hinting that he will agitate for the transfer if Postecoglou is sacked.
The Argentine reporter told ElDesmarque: “The key is who will be the Tottenham manager. If Postecoglou stays, I think Cuti won’t leave. Now, if there’s a change of coach, Cuti will do everything possible to leave.
“He wants to live in Madrid, not London. He wants to play for Atleti and has already spoken several times with Cholo Simeone. A meeting is planned between Miguel Angel Gil Marin and Levy to find out if they can sit down and negotiate or if the player will stay in London.”
