‘Trouble in paradise!’ Mockery and outrage as Tucker Carlson turns on MAGA hawks

Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News primetime host who has made a living pushing both white nationalist and non-interventionist policy positions, appeared to turn against President Donald Trump and much of right-wing punditry on Friday, scolding them for cheering on Israel's strikes on Iran and warning that if the United States gets involved, it will only bring disaster.

This follows Trump posting threats against Iran on Truth Social following Israel's drone strikes on Iranian facilities, saying, "the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come - And they know how to use it."

Pro-Trump commenters on social media were enraged over Carlson's stance.

"America first does not mean America only!" wrote basketball coach Bruce Pearl. "It's called being the leader of the free world! Setting the tone for good vs evil. The president gave Iran 60 days to simply stop enrichment for nuclear weapons. They got oil for energy, Tucker, they want a bomb!"

But meanwhile, other commenters were amused at the growing rift in MAGA world over how to respond to the latest crisis in the Middle East.

"Trouble in paradise: Tucker Carlson blasts Trump as 'complicit' in Iran strikes in what he calls his 'final newsletter before all-out war,'" wrote Republicans Against Trump.

"The GOP is starting to fracture with Tucker Carlson attacking Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Rupert Murdoch and essentially Trump," wrote podcaster Ed Krassenstein. "Trump knew this attack was going down, and he didn't stop it. For the record, I'm not saying this was a mistake by Israel. The real mistake happened in 2018 when Trump decided to pull us out of the Iranian Nuclear deal that limited Uranium enrichment."

"The real divide isn’t between people who support Israel and people who support Iran or the Palestinians," wrote podcaster Konstantin Kisin. "The real divide is between people who think that the way to achieve peace is to let Iran build nuclear weapons and people who aren't r-------."
