Bruce Willis’ Wife Shares Heartbreaking Update on Father’s Day
Bruce Willis is celebrating Father's Day with his family, but things look very different this year than they have in years past.
On June 15, Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, shared a rare picture of her husband with one of the couple's daughters, as part of a Father's Day tribute post.
"Happy Father’s Day to all the dads living with disability or disease, showing up in the ways they can and to the children who show up for them. What Bruce teaches our girls goes far beyond words. Resilience, unconditional love, and the quiet strength in simply being present," Heming Willis captioned an Instagram post.
"This photo says so much. Love deepens. It adapts. It stays, even when everything else change. But to be fair to myself, these symbolic days stir up a lot. I’m profoundly sad today. I wish, with every cell in my body, that things could be different for him and lighter for our family," she continued.
"As they say in our FTD community, 'It is what it is.' And while that might sound dismissive, to me, it’s not. It grounds me. It helps me return to the acceptance of what is and not fight this every step of the way like I used to. Today, let’s celebrate the badass dads, those who are here, and those we carry with us. Onward," she added.
It's unclear when the photo of Willis, 70, was taken, though it does appear to have been after his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis, based on Heming Willis' caption.
Dozens of fans reacted in the comments section, sending warm messages of love and support to Heming Willis and to the Die Hard actor.
"This is such a beautiful post. It is what it is, just keep swimming, keep on keeping on, one day at a time. I wish you all joy, love, and peace everyday forever," one person wrote.
"Well said, 'I wish it could be different for him and lighter for our family.' Such love, such blessing, such heartache," someone else added.
Willis was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 and, more specifically, frontotemporal dementia, in 2023.
