Celebrate the Thunder with printed latte art
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Game 4 of the NBA Finals is Friday night, and a local coffee shop is stepping up its game to celebrate the team. Modern Berry Co. uses its latte printer to print your favorite Thunder player's face onto your drink.
"OKC is just, we are Thunder City, right? And so it's been so fun," said Adam Birdwell, the owner of Modern Berry Co.
Printed latte art isn't a new concept at Modern Berry Co., located on Hefner and May in Oklahoma City. It's something the owners thought of after seeing a latte printer on their honeymoon.
"When we were talking about this concept, we thought that would be an amazing thing to bring to Oklahoma City," said Birdwell.
So for three years, they've printed latte art, but this year, they decided to take it to a whole new level when the Thunder made it into the playoffs.
It's been a huge success too with people traveling from all over to come try it out.
"So I was in here one morning and a couple came in and they were from about an hour and a half away," said Birdwell.
Others saw the art on social media and had to see it with their own eyes.
"It looks amazing, it's honestly better than the video, I have no idea how they do it, but I'm very impressed," said Sheila Seat, who came to try the latte art.
While they have a menu showing which Thunder players are available for latte printing, the options to print a photo on your drink are endless.
"You scan a QR code that's right here on our counter. Scroll through your phone, pick your favorite picture, send it in, it pops right up for us, and then we can put it on top," said Birdwell.
It's just one way the owners say the community can come together and Thunder Up.
"Go Thunder... Thunder Up, baby," said Birdwell.
In addition to the Thunder latte art, Modern Berry Co. has several thunder-related drinks and food items to celebrate the season.
