Jorge Lucey signs for Pontypridd
Pontypridd RFC are delighted to announce the signing of Jorge Lucey from Caerphilly RFC. The 24-year-old outside half has made the move to Sardis Road ready for the 2025/26 season.
Jorge played a starring role as Caerphilly enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign. The men from The Mollex Stadium were crowned champions of Division 2 East Central and won both the National Cup and Mid District Cups for Division 2 respectively.
Jorge has played all of his senior rugby to date for Caerphilly RFC, whilst his Age Grade representative rugby came when he played for Cardiff Blues U16s and U18s, and he also represented the Pontypridd Schools District side. He has had a stellar few years playing for his hometown club and we can’t wait to see him ply his trade at Sardis Road next season.
On joining Pontypridd, Jorge said: “I am really excited to get stuck in and meet all the boys. I know a couple of them already so looking forward to the new challenge for such a big club like Ponty. I cannot wait to get going!”
Looking forward to seeing what Jorge can achieve at Ponty this season, Head Coach Kristian Parker said: “It’s great to get Jorge on board, I was able to get out and watch him play a few times last season and I’m really excited at what he can bring to the squad. Jorge has very good passing range and selection, alongside a varied kicking game. He is not afraid to take the ball to the line and open holes for others.
Jorge is another local boy we are adding to the ranks having come through the system at Pontypridd Schools before showing his ability at Caerphilly RFC over the last few years and having great success. We are hoping Jorge can bring that to Ponty to over the next few years.
