ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- An Opelousas man was found guilty of 14 counts of animal cruelty to cattle, horses and dogs following a trial, prosecutors said.
During trial, prosecutors said Gordon Miller, 66, of Opelousas was found guilty of animal cruelty for failing to provide proper food, water, shelter and veterinary care for the animals.
In Feb. 2024, Miller was arrested after St. Landry Parish Animal Control received complaints of malnourished cattle on Miller's property. A total of 23 animals including cattle, horses and dogs were seized during the investigation, officials said.
