Ex-CIA Hacker Claims US Will Likely Face a Massive Iranian Cyberattack within the Next 30 Days: ‘They Have the Code to Break Into Our Nuclear Reactors’

Dr. Eric Cole — a former CIA hacker and top advisor to Fortune 50 companies — has sounded the alarm that the United States is likely to face a massive cyberattack from Iran within the next 30 days. And he says the threat is not just real — it’s imminent.

During an interview with former Rep. Matt Gaetz, Dr. Cole said Iran knows it cannot win on the battlefield with jets and bombs — but in cyberspace, the Islamic regime holds a terrifying advantage.

Cole warned that Iran is “very, very advanced” in cyber warfare and now possesses powerful tools that originated in U.S. intelligence operations.

Matt Gaetz:
Do you believe, right now, Iran is in the planning or execution stages of cyberattacks against the United States?

Dr. Eric Cole:
Absolutely. I wish this wasn’t the truth, but I believe that within the next 30 days, you’re going to see a massive cyberattack. All of the indications are there. Everyone’s ganging up on Iran. You’re seeing a lot of tension building, and they cannot compete on the military front—on the physical front with airplanes and weapons. There’s no way they can compete with the United States and Israel. But in cyber, they are very, very advanced.

Remember, Stuxnet attacked their nuclear reactors? Yes, they were a victim. But when you’re a victim of a cyberattack, you also get access to all the code. They actually have all the code that was used to break into their nuclear reactor. They’ve now taken that, and they can use it against us to break into our nuclear reactors.

Earlier this year, Cole joined former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on the Newt’s World podcast, where he reiterated his concerns, calling the situation a “true cyber crisis.”

He said America is completely unprepared to deal with an attack of this magnitude — especially from a nation with both the motivation and capability like Iran, or their silent backers in China and Russia.
