'FBI should be getting involved': Outrage over MAGA ally's quote on murdered Dem

A MAGA podcaster set off an internet firestorm with his comment about a murdered Democrat.

Influencer Alec Lace made headlines just days ago when he brought up the case of Melissa Hortman, who was murdered in what many say is a politically motivated shooting that also killed her husband and injured two others.

In that post, Lace claimed that Hortman "sounded fearful after voting to repeal healthcare for illegal aliens."

"Almost as if she knew that her base would become unhinged. She and her husband were tragically shot and killed," he said. "A targeted attack, per Gov. Walz."

He added, "Was her vote the motive?"

In a follow-up post that has since gone viral, Lace added, "Make no mistake. What happened to Melissa Hortman was a message to all Democrats. You vote against us and your life is at stake!"

This was interpreted by some as a threat to Democrats who might oppose the administration. One liberal influencer with more than 82,000 followers shared the quote and added the caption, "This is where FBI should be getting involved."

On Saturday, that comment was shared by former Republican lawmaker Adam Kinzinger.

Liberal combat vet Travis Matthew also flagged the comment, saying, "threatening Democrats who vote against Trump is still up. This is a clear de*th threat approved by MAGA and Elon. Please report and repost."

YouTuber Tony VanDongen on Saturday asked, "Alec Lace makes a death threat and nothing happens?"

Snopes also weighed in on the controversy, finding that Lace posted the comment but noted that it was being misinterpreted by some. Lace meant that Democrats would kill fellow Democrats if they didn't fall in line, according to Snopes' post.
