Transfer saga of £73m Man United ace takes new turn after a surprise enquiry
Manchester United have received a surprise enquiry from Turkish giants Fenerbahce regarding the future of outcast winger Jadon Sancho.
According to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Fenerbahce are eyeing a summer transfer for Sancho.
Sancho is also attracting attention from Napoli, but his sky-high wage demands have thrown a spanner in the works.
The Englishman joined United in 2021 for a staggering £73 million, arriving amid huge fanfare and lofty expectations.
However, he has fallen spectacularly short of the mark, with a mix of underwhelming performances and off-field issues alienating him from the club.
He was sent out on loan to Chelsea in the last campaign, but it turned into another chapter of frustration and missed opportunity.
The London outfit attempted to sign him permanently, but Sancho refused to lower his wage demands.
He is currently drawing a hefty paycheck of £250,000 per week, which he does not deserve.
Chelsea were happy to pay a penalty of £5m to United rather than meeting the winger’s astronomical demands.
Sancho has clearly worn out his welcome at Old Trafford, and a permanent exit this summer looks inevitable.
There has been some interest from Italy, with Juventus reportedly tabling a £21.5m offer for the 25-year-old.
Like Napoli, they are unlikely to pursue the deal unless he slashes his wage expectations.
Fenerbahce finished second in the Super Lig last season, trailing arch-rivals Galatasaray by a hefty 11-point margin.
Mourinho wants to bolster his squad so that they can put up a stronger challenge for the title.
Sancho still has another year left in his deal at United, raising concerns that he could choose to run it down and walk away for free.
If he does, it would be a damning reflection on a player once hailed as a generational talent, but who is now at risk of fading into irrelevance.
