Fast-Growing Mexican Fast Food Chain Opening New Location July 17
Mexican food is delicious, and it's a popular type of cuisine in the United States. According to a Pew Research Center analysis of data from SafeGraph, roughly 11% of restaurants in the U.S. serve Mexican food.
Pew Research Center adds that while Mexican restaurants are especially common in California and Texas, they're also in a major majority of counties in the U.S. and that around 37.2 million people living in the U.S. "trace their ancestry to Mexico, making Mexican Americans by far the largest Hispanic origin group in the nation."
So, with such a demand for delicious Mexican food, it's no wonder that some restaurants that serve the cuisine are growing. Now, one of the fastest-growing fast food chains is opening another location, and yes, it serves Mexican fare.
Guzman y Gomez has announced the opening of its seventh Chicagoland location in Des Plaines. The restaurant will open on July 17.
In honor of the grand opening, GYG will offer $5 burritos and bowls for dine-in, takeout and drive-through on opening day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Opening day will also offer other deals, live music, giveaways and the "chance for new fans to experience the energy and flavor that have made GYG a cult favorite in Australia and beyond."
"Opening our seventh Chicagoland Guzman y Gomez in Des Plaines is a huge milestone for us," Steven Marks, founder and co-CEO of Guzman y Gomez, said in a statement. "Guzman y Gomez has a cult following in Australia, and we're seeing that same momentum here, our Evanston launch was incredible. We know Des Plaines locals will taste our food and instantly love our fresh approach to fast food."
GYG now has more than 250 locations around the world and seven in the Chicago area, including Naperville, Schaumburg, Buffalo Grove, Crystal Lake, Deerfield, Evanston and Des Plaines. GYG offers burritos, bowls, nachos, tacos and quesadillas, "all made with quality ingredients like flame-grilled chicken, grilled flank steak, fresh produce and house-made salsas," the company states. GYG also serves breakfast, dessert and alcoholic beverages.
