TAG Heuer Embraces Formula 1 Fever With Nine Must-Have Timepieces

As Brad Pitt's latest flick F1 hits the big screen on June 27 and Formula 1 races to sign contract extensions for more pit stops across the U.S. throughout this decade, 2025 marks what might be the largest turning point for the open-wheel single-seater racing series on the American market. TAG Heuer might just be the biggest beneficiary of said turn, having taken over as the sport’s official timekeeper this year. In celebration of all this, the brand has dropped a number of new watches, including nine new editions of its aptly named TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph watch.

The nine distinct watch models celebrate the collection’s original introduction, which first hit stores in 1986—the year the Techiques d’Avant Garde group acquired the Heuer name. Three of the models join the brand's core collection and are available with a classic black and white dial, a deep blue dial, or a fierce red option. The other six models are all limited editions that express their idiosyncrasy through their striking color combinations, which include black and red, black and yellow, blue and black, white and green, white and red, and green and red editions.

The true differences from previous releases come in size, material, and movement. The new TAG Heuer Formula 1 has grown from its original 35mm case size into a refined 38mm case that measures 45.2mm lug-to-lug, but is only 9.9mm thick. It is made from sandblasted steel and features a bidirectional bezel crafted from TH-Polylight, a new material for TAG Heuer known for being lightweight and durable. You can choose between six models that come with a rubber strap or three that have a steel bracelet.

The watch, meanwhile, features the Swiss watchmaker’s Solargraph movement, which can also be found in its Professional 200 watches. The solar-powered quartz movement utilizes natural or artificial light to power the watch, and just a two-minute exposure to direct sunlight is enough to power the watch for an entire day. It only takes 40 hours to fully charge the watch, which then can run for 10 months with zero light exposure. Overall, the battery offers a 15-year lifespan.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph watches are available via the brand’s store’s across the globe and via their official website for $1,850 for the rubber strap versions or $1,950 for the stainless steel bracelet.
