Ozzy Osbourne’s Son Jack Posts Tear-Jerker Video Following Black Sabbath’s Farewell Show
Ozzy Osbourne’s final live show was an emotional night for fans and friends across the world. Just after the Prince of Darkness took to the stage on a bat-winged throne for Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert, his son, Jack, posted the most poignant tribute of all.
In a video shared to Instagram, Jack, 39, shared a vintage clip of his famous father talking him on stage in the late 1980s and explaining to him how to end a show.
“You put your heart in your hand, and you say goodnight there,” the rocker said as he bowed to the left while holding his young son’s hand. “And then you say goodnight there,” he added as he bowed to the middle of the stage. “And then what do you say there?”
“Goodnight, we love you all,” little Jack replied in the clip.
“For everything I learned along the way…the final Good Night, We Love You All,” Jack captioned the throwback.
Fans reacted to the father-son moment in the comment section, with some noting that the venue in the video appeared to be Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater in Colorado. Others admitted they teared up while watching the clip.
“Zakk and I have watched this in tears 10 times. Beautiful Jacky Boy,” wrote Barbaranne Wylde, the wife of longtime Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde.
“My dad introduced me to Ozzy when I was a boy,” another fan wrote. “This night felt very special, Your dad’s a legend. Jack i'm crying ????❤️.”
“Oh this made me cry????????,” another fan wrote.
The tribute video was posted following Ozzy’s final live performance with Black Sabbath at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham on July 5. The 76-year-old rock legend performed a five-song solo set and four more songs with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. Ozzy’s final song--his last live performance ever— was the Black Sabbath 1970 single, “Paranoid.”
“Unfortunately, we’ve come to our final song … ever,” Ozzy told the crowd, per the New York Times. “I just want to say to you on behalf of the guys in Black Sabbath and myself, your support over the years has made it all possible for us to live the lifestyle that we do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you; we love you.”
