Mid Season Bash is the Halfway Mark of Peterborough Speedway Season
Central Ontario’s favourite race place celebrates the halfway mark of the 2025 regular season Saturday, July 12th with the New Country KX 105.1 Mid Season Bash.
Catch your own piece of the action with the home track SwitchTire Mini Stock, Junior Late Model, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck and KOD Disposal Late Model divisions, plus the year’s only appearance by the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models. King of the Hill spectator laps will be the night’s intermission attraction. Gates open at 5:00, with racing at 6:00.
Shawn Chenoweth is the most recent winner on the Super Late Model tour, taking home a $10,000 payday in the Jackpot on the Hilltop event at Sunset Speedway. Earlier this season, reigning series champion J.R. Fitzpatrick took the victory in the prestigious Don Biederman Memorial at Flamboro.
Mike Nelson is the current point leader in the local oval’s Mini Stock field, with 19-point cushion over John Lavalle. Kent Missons, Rob Crick and Tyler McMurter round-out the top 5 in the point standings. Multi-time track champion Dan McHattie has a slim 2-point lead over reigning track champion Ryan Kimball in the Late Model title chase. Kelly Balson, Steve Powell and Gary Hannah hold down the 3rd, 4th and 5th place positions.
In Junior Late Model action, Lucas Finnegan picked up the win in the local leg of the SPS Rumble Series Saturday, July 5th. Finnegan entered that show with the home track point lead. Over 20 different racers have scored points in at least 1 event on the Peterborough Speedway schedule.
OMRS officials have confirmed that the Saturday, July 12th event for the SportsMods group has been rescheduled to July 19th. Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Trucks will take their position in the raceday line-up. Another OMRS revision will see the marquee Bill Pickford Memorial shifted to Saturday, August 16th.
