Abortionist Should be Held Accountable for Illegally Selling Abortion Drugs
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, has filed a legal petition against a New York county clerk who is shielding an abortionist from being held accountable for illegally causing the death of a baby in Texas last year.
CatholicVote previously reported that Dr. Margaret Carpenter, a New York abortionist, is facing legal consequences from Texas after she mailed a pregnant woman abortion drugs. According to a news release from Paxton’s office, the drugs resulted in an abortion and serious medical complications for the mother.
Though Paxton in February secured a $100,000 penalty and permanent injunction against Carpenter for violating Texas law, which almost entirely protects unborn life, New York has not cooperated to hold her accountable. According to the release, the New York acting county clerk for Ulster County, Taylor Bruck, has “plainly rejected any attempt by Texas to enforce the judgment and authorize collection of the penalty.”

Paxton’s recently submitted petition seeks a court order to require Carpenter to pay the fine, the release stated.
“Dr. Carpenter is a radical abortionist who must face justice, not get legal protection from New York liberals intent on ending the lives of as many unborn children as they can,” Paxton said. “No matter where they reside, pro-abortion extremists who send drugs designed to kill the unborn into Texas will face the full force of our state’s pro-life laws.”
As CatholicVote previously reported, Carpenter was also embroiled in legal processes in Louisiana earlier this year after she illegally mailed abortion drugs to the mother of a pregnant minor, who then coerced her daughter into thanking them. Louisiana indicted Carpenter and signed an extradition warrant, but New York’s shield law protected the abortionist from facing the penalties.
