NEW: President Mnangagwa leaves for Madagascar

SADC chairperson President Mnangagwa has left for the regional bloc’s 45th Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will be held tomorrow in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
President Mnangagwa concludes his fruitful tenure tomorrow and will hand over the chairpersonship to Madagascar’s Andry Rajoelina.
In a communiqué, the SADC Secretariat said the summit will review progress on the implementation of the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020–2030, consider a report from the chairperson of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, as well as review achievements from the region’s 44th summit.
The 45th summit is being held under the theme “Advancing industrialisation, agricultural transformation and energy transition for a resilient SADC”.
President Mnangagwa was seen off at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Minister of State for National Security Lovemore Matuke, the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Charles Tawengwa, service chiefs and other senior Government officials.
He was accompanied by Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube; Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (Presidential Communications) Mr George Charamba; and other officials.
