The word in question won the title of the puzzle that broke the most streaks for any NYT games user. A “streak” in Wordle is solving the puzzle every day. Some have streaks in the thousands! However, if you get the puzzle wrong, your streak ends.

On May 14, 2025, the word “BONGO” broke 36,337 streaks from devoted users of the app.
“Anytime you have double letters, it’s a little bit harder,” Zoe Bell, executive producer of games at The New York Times, told the Today show. “And, then, if it’s double letters, and it’s a vowel, I think it’s even harder. And then it’s an ‘O,’ which is a weird vowel. And they were split up. They weren’t in the middle, so it just made it really hard.”
