Supercomputer moves Tottenham up two places in predicted Premier League table
Tottenham Hotspur’s gritty win over Crystal Palace has seen Opta’s Supercomputer revise its prediction on where the Lilywhites will finish this term.
Given how close the Premier League table is this season, one or two results could make a huge difference to a team’s position.
That is demonstrated by what has happened to Tottenham Hotspur, who picked up what was just their second win in their last nine Premier League outings on Sunday.
Their 1-0 win at Selhurst Park has seen them rise to 11th place in the Premier League table and has left them just four points behind Chelsea in fifth place.
Opta’s Supercomputer predicts where Tottenham will finish this season
Following Spurs’ 2-1 loss to Liverpool at home last week, Opta predicted that the Lilywhites would finish in 13th place in the Premier League table.
However, Opta’s Supercomputer has now revised its prediction after Archie Gray’s goal saw Thomas Frank’s men emerge with all three points against Palace.
Their algorithm now predicts that the North London club will finish the season in 11th place, with an expected 52.67 points.
However, Opta give Spurs just a 2.06 per cent chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Is Champions League qualification a realistic objective for Spurs?
2.06 per cent seems extremely low, given that Tottenham are four points off the top five, with a fifth-place finish likely to be enough once again for Champions League qualification.

However, most Spurs fans would concede that the team is not playing anything like a top-five side this season.
While Tottenham did show plenty of resilience at Selhurst Park, they once again looked short of ideas in the final third, and the creativity issue is not something Frank has managed to solve.
