Nobel Peace Prize Winner Implies She'd Be Willing to Give Trump the Award amid Reports He's Snubbing Her for Leadership Role

The winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize is seemingly considering giving up the award and handing it to President Donald Trump.

While the 79-year-old Republican has long campaigned to receive the historic prize, in 2025 it was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.

While accepting the award, Machado dedicated the win in part to Trump. In a recent interview, she explained the dedication and went as far as to imply that she would be willing to share the prize with him.

Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News on Monday, Jan. 5, Machado said that she wanted to dedicate the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump from the moment that she learned she’d won it.

“I dedicated it to President Trump because I believed at that point that he deserved it,” she said.

Machado implied that he was even more deserving of the award after he detained Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores on Saturday, Jan. 3.

Trump first announced the news on Truth Social that day. He has since signaled that the United States would maintain a presence in the country while new leadership was established, according to The New York Times.

Reflecting on his actions, Machado said that many people described them as “impossible to achieve.”

“I think he has proven to the world what he means,” she said, adding that the day “will go down in history as the day justice defeated a tyranny.”

Hannity asked Machado about a rumor that she had offered to give the award to Trump, whom she admitted that she had not spoken to in months.

“It hasn’t happened yet, but I certainly would love to be able to personally tell him that we believe, the Venezuelan people… because this is a prize of the Venezuelan people… certainly want to give it to him and share it with him,” she replied.

Machado’s interview comes shortly after a report in The Washington Post, in which sources implied Trump was upset that she even accepted the award in November.

Amid questions about if Machado could be elevated to a new leadership position in Venezuela, one source implied that her acceptance was the “ultimate sin.”

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” they said.

While Trump was overlooked for the Nobel Peace Prize, he was the recipient of another prize in December.
