5 freeway through Grapevine and Tehachapi are under a winter weather advisory which was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 12:03 p.m. The advisory is valid for Thursday, Jan. 8 between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The NWS Hanford CA adds to prepare for, “Total snow accumulation 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph, producing blowing snow.”

“Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. Blowing snow will lower visibilities below a mile,” the NWS said. “Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.”
