Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder Makes Major Tour Announcement

Last summer, Pearl Jam dropped some significant news in officially announcing the departure of iconic drummer Matt Cameron, who had been with the band for 27 years.

While those rather larger shoes left by Cameron have yet to be filled by the endlessly popular Seattle-based band, lead singer Eddie Vedder has announced some news of his own that will likely have Pearl Jam fans thrilled.

This coming spring, Vedder will be taking his unique vocals on the solo route, announcing four tour dates in Japan set begin on April 14.

Eddie Vedder Announces First Solo Tour Since 2019

Vedder's last solo stint — dubbed as An Evening with Eddie Vedder — took place in Europe in June and July of 2019, a tour that spanned eight countries for a total of 12 shows.

This latest solo act by Vedder will clearly just be a fraction of that, but there are probably very few fans of Vedder out there who could be found complaining.

The forthcoming dates for Vedder's first solo tour of Japan will go as follows:

• April 14, 2026 – Nagoya, Forest Hall
• April 16, 2026 – Osaka, Festival Hall
• April 17, 2026 – Kyoto, Rohm Theater
• April 20, 2026 – Tokyo, Garden Theater

While it's somewhat disappointing that the brief solo tour will be limited to Japan, it is 2026, so in an ideal world there will be live streaming options available for fans in the United States, and across the globe.

However, if not, the four stints from Vedder would hopefully be made available in some capacity, either directly through Pearl Jam's site — especially considering ticket details for the Japan shows are being announced there — or through other easily accessible avenues like YouTube and perhaps other exclusive streaming services.

As the band notes, tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on February 14, 10 a.m. JST.

What Fans Can Expect From an Eddie Vedder Solo Tour

Since the aforementioned solo tour in Europe back in 2019, it sounds like fans in Japan will be getting quite the treat with these four stops from Vedder.

According to SPIN, the 61-year-old Vedder's solo acts have traditionally been "split between his songs penned for Pearl Jam, covers, and Into the Wild soundtrack material."

But the legendary Pearl Jam frontman has since evolved these solos acts to include elements in the show that involve other musicians, notably the Red Limo String Quartet.

"The expanded instrumentation [of Red Limo String Quartet] has also allowed him [Vedder] to incorporate Pearl Jam material written by band members other him himself, including songs such as 'Black,' 'Alive' and 'Smile,'" the publication continued.

Eddie Vedder's Last Appearance in Japan Involved a Neil Young Cover With Jack White

The last time Japan was treated to a rare appearance from Vedder came in March of 2025, as he covered a song he so famously loves to cover, playing Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World" with Jack White, of White Stripes fame.

That notable appearance with White can be seen right here in this thunderous clip that still somehow has only logged 11,000 views on YouTube:

As for what's next for the band as a whole, Pearl Jam is said to be discussing the details of what would be its 13th album, with lead guitarist Mike McCready hinting, among other things, at getting back to "a more raw, direct, and spontaneous sound."
