Netflix's Most Watched Series Ever Isn't 'Stranger Things' - at Least Not yet
Before the finale, Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp warned fans they wouldn't all be pleased with the ending.
“It’s literally impossible, which is why they’re not working to satisfy ‘this versus that,'” Schnapp said in the weeks leading up to the finale. “There’s so much pressure on that last episode to not just finish the season, but the last episode also tells a story of what the whole show was. But I think the Duffers and us as a cast, honestly, are good at tuning out the noise.”
While it wasn't universally lauded, the conclusion delivered a fitting end - but hasn't delivered Netflix's most-watched show...yet.
Netflix's Most Watched Series Isn't 'Stranger Things'
What's on Netflix comprised a list of the most-watched series on the streaming platform and Stranger Things doesn't sit at the top - or even in second. Netflix uses a 91-day window to count views.
"To measure its biggest hits, Netflix uses hours watched and completed viewing equivalents (CVE for short). These viewing hours are derived from Netflix’s global subscriber base, and CVE calculates the runtime of the show or movie by dividing it by the number of hours watched," What's on Netflix wrote.
The most watched series are broken down by season, which would explain why Stranger Things doesn't own the top spot yet. That's currently held by Wednesday's first season, which saw 1,718,800,000 hours watched and 252,100,000 views.
Megahit Adolescence came in second with 546,500,000 hours watched and 142,600,000 views. The third season of Stranger Things came in at No. 3 while the fifth and final season of the show currently occupies the No. 6 spot with 1,195,900,000 hours watched and 115,000,000 views.
The final season of the show still has plenty of time to rack up views and move up the list, but will it reach No. 1?
