Robert Pattinson Had A Role In Marty Supreme That Probably Passed You By Completely

Marty Supreme director Josh Safdie has revealed that Robert Pattinson has an uncredited role in the Timothée Chalamet ping-pong drama. 

During a conversation at London’s BFI Southbank on Tuesday, the filmmaker shared that he reunited with the Good Time actor for a tiny, uncredited role in Marty Supreme. 

“No one knows this, but that voice — the commentator, the umpire — is Pattinson,” Safdie told the crowd. “It’s like a little easter egg. Nobody knows about that.”

He continued: “[Robert] came and watched some stuff and I was like, ‘I don’t know any British people’. So he’s the umpire.”

You can hear Robert’s voice during the scene where Marty Mauser faces off against Hungarian champion Bela Kletzki (played by Géza Röhrig) in the British Open semifinals. 

Robert previously worked with Josh Safdie and his brother Benny on the 2017 crime thriller Good Time.

In the film, he played the criminal Connie, who goes to extreme lengths to help free his disabled brother from police custody.

As part of a recent Lie Detector Test video with Vanity Fair, Robert’s Die My Love co-star Jennifer Lawrence asked if he would like to work with Josh and Benny Safdie again. While The Batman actor said yes, the polygraph picked up a “deceptive” response. 

“That’s crazy,” the former Twilight star said at the time – although now we’re left wondering if it was because he had recently worked with one half of the directing team, and was trying to keep it under wraps.

Robert will next appear on-screen opposite Timothée in Dune: Part Three, playing a shape-shifting villain named Scytale. The pair also worked together in the 2019 historical drama, The King.

Earlier this week, Timothée took home the Golden Globe for his lead role in Marty Supreme. “He’s a movie star,” Safdie said about the actor, who looks poised to score his third Oscar nomination this year. “This intense dreamer. Relentless, driven, this New Yorker.”
