Finland records worst bankruptcy year since 1996
A total of 3,906 companies in Finland filed for bankruptcy in 2025, marking the highest annual figure since the economic crisis of the 1990s, according to Statistics Finland.
The number represents a 12 percent increase compared to 2024 and continues a trend that began in 2023. The volume of bankruptcies now exceeds levels seen during the global financial crisis of 2009 and the downturns in 2013 and 2023.
In December alone, authorities initiated 360 bankruptcy proceedings.
