Three Major College Basketball Games Moved Due To Severe Snowstorm
More than half of the country is preparing for a vicious winter storm this weekend, one that could wreak havoc on due to extreme cold and heavy snow.
As citizens all over America hunker down, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has announced multiple adjustments to its Saturday men's basketball game schedule because of impending inclement weather.
Three games have been moved
According to the ACC press release, tip times for three of the conference's nine Saturday games have been changed.
The alterations are as follows:
- Wake Forest at No. 5 Duke – Originally scheduled for 5:45 p.m. ET, now moved to Noon ET (airing on The CW)
- No. 22 North Carolina at No. 14 Virginia – Originally scheduled for 2 p.m. ET, Moved to Noon and will now air on ESPN2
- Virginia Tech at No. 23 Louisville – Originally scheduled for 3:45 p.m. ET, Now moved up to 2:15 p.m. (airing on The CW)
Additionally, Saturday's NC State-Pitt game in Pittsburgh will remain at noon ET as scheduled, but will instead now air on ESPNU.
More changes coming?
Several other smaller conferences have announced scheduling updates due to the forecasted storm, and it's very possible more are on the way.
The ACC is the first of the power conferences to change its schedule because of the snow, but they probably will not be the last.
Storm expected to have widespread impact
In total, 28 states have been hit with winter storm warnings or advisories for the next few days. Over 150 million Americans are projected to feel the effects.
"A major winter storm is still coming Friday through the weekend. We’re still looking at around 160 million people under the gun for wintry precipitation by Sunday morning. Winter Storm Watches now stretch from New Mexico to Tennessee and they’ll keep expanding today,” said Ryan Hall, "The Internet’s Weather Man,” on Wednesday.
“What’s changed is where the bullseye lands. And for a lot of people in the transition zone, that matters a lot.”
