Oakland man charged with bombing occupied car
OAKLAND — A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged with setting off a bomb next to an occupied car and injuring a woman inside, court records show.
Guy Igondjo, of Oakland, was charged with exploding a bomb causing bodily injury, having a destructive device, and assault with a deadly weapon. He was released from jail after posting $50,000, according to court records.
Police allege in court records that Igondjo parked next to a car containing two people, retrieved an “unknown device” from his trunk, and set it down next to the occupied car. The device exploded as he walked away, authorities said.
The court filings don’t say where the incident happened, only that it was in Oakland on Jan. 11, between midnight and 2:30 a.m. The car’s windshield was damaged and a woman inside suffered a “visible injury,” authorities said in court filings.
Igondjo was arrested on the 2300 block of Webster Street at 2:39 a.m. on Jan. 11, the police report says. He pleaded not guilty at a Jan. 14 court appearance.
