McCafé Keurig Pods Recalled Across the U.S. — What Consumers Need to Know
Unfortunately for companies and consumers alike, recalls are an unavoidable reality, as has been seen in recent food headlines. Now, a new action has been issued in the U.S. for a popular flavor of McCafé Keurig coffee pods.
McCafé Keurig Pods Recalled Because Decaf May Contain Caffeine
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that Keurig Dr. Pepper has issued a voluntary recall for its McCafé Premium Roast Decaf Coffee K-Cup Pods. The affected cases of the product were shipped to California, Indiana, and Nevada. The company undertook that action on December 6, 2025, but the FDA reported publicly on the issue on January 23, 2026. The reason for the recall is that the product is labeled as decaf, but may contain regular caffeinated coffee. Boxes of the product that match the following production information are implicated in this action.

960 boxes of the product, all of which contain 84 pods, are being recalled. That means that 80,640 individual pods of McCafé Premium Roast Decaf Coffee K-Cup Pods could have caffeine. The FDA has classified the recall as Class II, which the agency's website states has the following meaning. "Class II - a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
A Fox Business article about the recall quoted a Keurig Dr Pepper spokesperson who revealed that, "outreach to impacted consumers already happened directly in December. As part of that, consumers were encouraged to contact Keurig Consumer Care directly at (866) 901 2739 to arrange for product replacement." The company also provided the following statement to Fox Business on the recall.
"At Keurig Dr Pepper, we are committed to the highest standards of safety and quality in the products we produce and distribute. In cooperation with the FDA, we initiated a voluntary recall of a limited number of 84-count boxes of McCafe Premium Roast Decaf coffee K-Cup pods, sold through a single retail partner, as the coffee may contain regular caffeinated coffee."
The statement continued, "All consumers who purchased this product were notified directly by the retailer a little more than a month ago and provided with next steps regarding a replacement product. All impacted product remaining with the retailer has been returned to us."
