Red Bull Heavy Metal Will Expand To Canada and Europe

Red Bull Heavy Metal is yet again venturing out to new destinations. This time, it’s leaving the United States.
Organizers of the Boston stop in 2025 expected around 4,000 people to show up. Instead, more than 20,000 braved the cold to watch street snowboarding from some of the sickest riders in the game.
So logically, the Heavy Metal organizers are expanding the contest. On January 31, 2026, Red Bull Heavy Metal makes its debut in the Steel City. Riders will hit a course outside of Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A Boston qualifier originally planned for Minnesota in mid-January was cancelled.

Now, it’s going global. First up is Montreal, Quebec. Riders will take over Montreal’s iconic Olympic Park. The course will feature three zones built exclusively for Montreal. Here’s who is invited to ride in that event:

Gates will open at 1 p.m., and the contest starts at 2 p.m. That will end around 6 p.m. An after party is scheduled for 10 p.m. at Les Foufounes Électriques.
Then, in March, Heavy Metal heads overseas. A contest will be held in Helsinki, Finland, at Senate Square. That event will also be free and open to all ages. There’s no rider list for that contest yet, but keep an eye out for that soon.
Heavy Metal Boston in 2025 was nothing short of insane. Milam took the overall title for the men thanks to a smooth-as-silk 720 in Zone 2 and his 180 to 50-50 onto the kink rail in Zone 3. He won Zones 2 and 3 handily, on his way to the overall win.
Meanwhile, 15-year-old Jess Perlmutter took home the overall contest title on the women’s side, thanks in part to her laid-out backflip in Zone 2.
Wint, Winkelmann, Hallen, and Pat Fava have all won previous stops of the Heavy Metal contest. Joey Fava and Powell have also won zones in previous stops.
