Archbishop Tambala warns Don Bosco parish
Archbishop George Tambala of Lilongwe Archdiocese has warned that he will not hesitate to close Don Bosco parish if it repeats its ungodly behaviour that led to suspension of choirs at the parish two years ago.
Archbishop Tambala has further warned that he will also close any parish that does not conduct adoration of the Holy Eucharist.
He said a parish that does not spend time for the adoration of the Eucharist is not rooted in faith.
He gave the warning on Sunday during the commemoration of Saint John Don Bosco, the patron saint for Don Bosco parish.
During the celebration, the parish unveiled its vision.
But Tambala said the vision was not enough. He challenged the parish to come up with a strategic plan for at least five years.
He urged all parishes in the archdiocese to formulate strategic plans and cautioned that he would trash strategic plans that will not speak to the archdiocesan document.
Two years ago, choirs at Don Bosco parish turned against the leadership of the parish over money issues, a development that led to the dismissal of two catechists.
Poor governance
The parish is already witnessing signs of bad governance as its chairperson Reonard Chimbende is interfering with the affairs of churches under the parish.
Based on unverified reports he went to St. Dominic Savio outstation on January 25 where he stood at the altar and discredited a toilet project without having conducted a fact checking mission.
The church executive and other committees were shocked and confused.
The leadership of the church and other committees met on January 29 and resolved not to allow outsiders to divide them but to concentrate on their plans to develop their small church.
