Munashe Garananga Pens Deadline Day Loan Move
We are pleased to confirm the loan signing of Zimbabwean international, Munashe Garananga from Danish Superliga holders FC Copenhagen, subject to work permit approval.
The centre-back becomes our sixth signing of the January transfer window - and our third Deadline Day recruit - joining on loan until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Garananga’s rapid rise has taken the Zimbabwean from KV Mechelen in Belgium to earn a €4 million move to Copenhagen.
The 25-year-old has won league and cup doubles in both Moldova and Denmark – with Sheriff Tiraspol and Copenhagen, respectively – and has experience in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League.
'Gara' also has 17 caps for Zimbabwe and made two appearances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
On the addition of Garananga, Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray commented: “I am really pleased to add a player of Gara's quality to the squad on Deadline Day.
"He has got some fantastic attributes which will stand him in good stead for this league. He is a quick, aggressive centre-back who is comfortable in possession and playing out from the back.
"I am looking forward to him joining the group and he is another strong addition to the team."
Hibernian FC Sporting Director Malky Mackay added: "We are delighted to be able to bring in an international player of Gara's calibre from such an established club.
"I would like to thank Sporting Director, Nils Koppen, and all at FC Copenhagen who were involved in a very amicable and smooth deal.
"It was important for us that we brought another experienced player to the Club in this window, and we are all looking forward to watching him in action between now and the end of the season."
