NBC Launches AI-Powered Tool for Watching Olympics

If you constantly find yourself wondering how or when to watch a specific event during the Winter Olympics, NBC has just the tool for you. 

Using the power of AI, the network has launched a service that will keep you from missing the next hockey game or figure skating competition as the 25th Winter Olympic Games take place in Italy. 

What is OLI? 

OLI is an AI-powered assistant NBC has produced to help viewers find what they want to watch while the world’s best athletes compete in Italy over the next couple of weeks. 

Unlike your college term paper, this is the type of cheating that is good, especially considering it perhaps has never been harder to figure out where and when to watch, well, any sporting event on TV these days. 

How does OLI help you find what Olympic events to watch? 

Head over to nbcolympics.com/oli and type in what you want to watch. 

For example, if you enter “Opening Ceremony,” you will see those start at 1:40 p.m. on Friday afternoon, and they can be found on both the NBC broadcast network and streamed via the Peacock app. 

(NBC’s website indicates you can also stream them on NBCOlympics.com, NBC.com, and the NBC app and the NBC Sports app.) 

You will also see that is when they will air live. If you prefer to watch in primetime, the Opening Ceremony, including the parade of nations and the lighting of the cauldron at San Siro Olympic Stadium, will be shown again on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. 

But that’s an easy one, right? 

What if you want to know when to watch every time Team USA takes the ice for men’s hockey now that NHL players are back in the Olympics? 

Ask, “When does the hockey tournament start?” and you will find the USA women face Czechia at 10:40 a.m. on Thursday morning on Peacock and USA Network. 

The USA men take the ice for the first time on Feb. 12 against Latvia. That game will also be on USA Network and Peacock at 3:10 p.m. 

Every other game in pool play is also produced by that simple question, so this appears to be a great feature to use all the way up to the closing ceremony. 

When is the closing ceremony? 

Well, OLI tells us it will air first at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 22 on NBC and Peacock with another broadcast to follow at 9 p.m. that day. 

The ceremony is set to take place at Verona Olympic Arena, one of the ancient Roman amphitheaters that is best preserved.
