Walter White’s ‘Breaking Bad’ House Just Became Unbelievably Affordable
A $4 million home might not be out of the realm of affordability for Breaking Bad’s fictional drug kingpin Walter White. But to the average fan, it’s a bit of a stretch. Now, after more than a year on the market, the famous TV home has gotten a drastic price cut.
As TMZ reports, the Albuquerque, New Mexico, house that served as the White family homestead just became affordable to many more fans of the show.
The four-bedroom home originally hit the market more than a year ago with a hefty $4 million price tag attached. Given that the home had a famous Hollywood history, the price point seemed justified after a real estate expert who claimed to sell “famous” homes in Los Angeles convinced the homeowner that the right buyer might want to turn the home into a museum or official tourist destination.
However, Alicia Feil, the Keller Williams real estate agent who is selling the home, pointed out that the home is located in a residential neighborhood that does not allow for that kind of zoning. So she has lowered the listing price by a whopping 90 percent, to just $400,000, though she does caution that it’s very likely to sell for more than the asking price.
Feil knows what she’s talking about; she’s the one who sold the home that belonged to Jesse Pinkman, Aaron Paul’s character, on the show in 2015. But you don’t have to be a Breaking Bad aficionado to enjoy the property. Per the official listing:
“Whether you are an avid Breaking Bad fan, or a local family looking for your next home, this well located home will not disappoint. 3828 Piermont offers a comfortable and inviting setting in an established neighborhood, combining everyday livability with convenient access to nearby amenities. The property features a practical layout and a welcoming feel, making it well suited for both relaxed living and entertaining, both indoors and out.”
The home looks out at the top of the Sandia Mountains and does include a pool, as any fan of the show certainly knows.
What you may not recognize from its onscreen appearances: the gate that now guards the property. The owners installed a 6-foot tall wrought iron privacy fence in 2017, to curb the frequent disruptions fans of the show caused the homeowners.
The fence also helped to prevent fans from recreating one of the show’s famous moments—where Bryan Cranston’s science teacher-turned-meth maker throws a giant pizza on the roof.
The stunt got so bad that Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan eventually pleaded with fans to stop tossing pies. “Lately, we’re hearing from the owner that folks are wandering on to her property, and are being rude to her when she comes out and basically says ‘you’re on my property,’” Gilligan said in 2015. “They are throwing pizzas on roofs and stuff like that. Let me tell you, there is nothing original or funny or cool about throwing a pizza on this lady’s roof. It is just not funny. It’s been done before. You are not the first.”
