The Dane is in a difficult position, particularly given that Spurs are currently in the middle of a major injury crisis, and some supporters may feel that he has been hung out to dry by the Tottenham top brass.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham showed interest in signing Axel Disasi from Chelsea in the dying stages of the transfer window.

The report claims that the 27-year-old was at ‘the centre of a transfer scramble’ on deadline day as Spurs were battling West Ham for his signature.

In fact, it is revealed that Disasi held ‘active discussions with several clubs’ before eventually deciding to move to the London Stadium on loan until the end of the season.

Why were Spurs interested in another centre-back?

The fact that Tottenham were looking to add another centre-back to their squad in the final hours of the window appears strange, given that an attacker was the order of the day.

Perhaps that is a sign that the Lilywhites seriously considered cashing in on Radu Dragusin until very late on.

Dragusin was heavily linked with a return to Serie A throughout the transfer window, and perhaps Frank’s men may have been willing to let the Romanian leave if they had secured another centre-back.
