Study Reveals Priciest U.S. Cities for Super Bowl Parties
The Seattle Seahawks will meet the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday evening, but the battle on the field isn't the only competition that will be taking place this weekend.
Millions of Americans will look to host the best Super Bowl party possible, complete with drinks, refreshments and more for the biggest sporting event of the year. Fans approach the Super Bowl in a variety of ways, not unlike how a head coach puts together a game plan.

Some will opt to cook themselves, putting their culinary abilities to the test. Others will have events catered, or will choose to pick up food for the sake of convenience. Some fans go all out with decorations, while others simply place food in the kitchen and have friends and attendees gather around the television to watch.
The Super Bowl can be approached in a variety of ways, but there's no denying that it's an event that brings Americans together. That togetherness can come at a price - and these cities will be feeling the consequences on Monday morning.
The Action Network ranked dozens of cities on a set of shared criteria: food prices, drink prices, general grocery rates and utility costs. The most expensive place to watch the Super Bowl this year? One of the participating cities among the two conference champions.
Seahawks' Home Tops Most Expensive List
Seattle, the home of the Seahawks, comes in as the most expensive city in the United States for Super Bowl parties. Celebrating the big game in Seattle can cost up to $39.15 per guest. That's a far cry from the $26.24 that the same party would cost in Green Bay, Wisconsin - the cheapest city on the list.

Seattle is followed by other large cities on the West coast in Sacramento, San Francisco (this year's host city) and Los Angeles. San Jose, part of the Super Bowl-hosting Bay Area, rounds out the top five with an average cost of $38.80 per guest.
How Are Super Bowl Party Prices Determined?
According to The Action Network, grocery prices are the biggest driver of price inequality among cities. The most expensive cities on the list are paying $20 per person to simply stock their parties with food, while those same costs are between $16 and $18 per person in the cheaper cities.
Food costs can be exponentially higher in the more expensive cities, with some paying literally double what their cheaper counterparts at the other end of the list fork over for certain items. Drink costs and utility costs were less of a determining factor in the analysis, but they separated some cities from others at a finer level.
The good news for football fans this year? The Super Bowl will be free to watch over the air on NBC, and those who subscribe to Peacock will be able to watch the game on the streaming service in 4K resolution.
