Supercomputer predicts Tottenham’s Premier League finish after Man United loss

Tottenham Hotspur fans will not enjoy hearing what Opta’s Supercomputer has predicted about their Premier League finish following their 2-0 loss at Old Trafford.

Spurs fell to their first defeat in four years against Man United on Sunday, with the home side emerging 2-0 winners after Cristian Romero was sent off just before the 30-minute mark.

The loss has given Thomas Frank even more problems as Romero is now suspended for four matches after getting his second red card of the season.

Not only have the Lilywhites moved closer to the relegation zone, but Tottenham could be without 12 senior players for their upcoming game against Newcastle, with the club’s injury crisis putting them in a precarious position.

Tottenham drop down Opta’s predicted Premier League table

Opta have now revised their prediction after Spurs fell to yet another defeat on Saturday, which was their 10th of the season in 28 matches.

The data analysis platform predicts that Tottenham will finish in 15th place this season, with an expected points tally of 46.28.

Opta also say that Spurs are now all but out of the race for Champions League qualification, giving the club just a 0.01 per cent chance of qualifying for Europe’s premier tournament next season.

Are Spurs in serious danger of being relegated?

West Ham’s 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday means that Frank’s men are now just five points clear of the drop zone.

Given their tough fixture list over the next couple of weeks and their injury crisis, they could find themselves in serious trouble very soon.

However, Opta’s supercomputer does not expect Tottenham to go down, giving just a 2.35 per cent chance of the Lilywhites being relegated for the first time in Premier League history.
