Man dies after a ‘medical incident’ inside Asda
A man died in front of shoppers at a busy Asda on Friday evening after suffering a serious ‘medical incident’.
Paramedics arrived at the Asda West Swindon superstore just before 5pm on Friday evening, where they found the man in cardiac arrest.
Emergency services fought for 30 minutes to save his life before he passed away around 5.30pm.
Witnesses told local news outlet The Adver that the store was shut down temporarily and customers were asked to leave.
Wiltshire Police later confirmed: ‘We were called to Asda, West Swindon, at 4.55pm following reports of a male in cardiac arrest.

‘Extensive efforts were made to save the man’s life, but he sadly died around 40 minutes later.’
‘The death is being treated as non-suspicious, and no one has been arrested.’
Asda has been praised for shutting down operations after the man’s death, with one well-wisher to the man’s family saying: ‘Well done to Asda staff for managing this with kindness, respect and compassion.
‘I hope his loved ones can take some comfort in that. Rest in peace Sir.’
Another added: ‘My heart goes out to his family. Well done, Asda, who had the decency to close the store and give him some decency and respect.
‘Emergencies like this call for stores to show respect and close, and I’m glad Asda dealt with this very sad situation in the correct way.’
