Snowless California Ski Area To Reopen for First Time In Two Years After Huge Snowfall
Alta Sierra Ski Resort, a small ski area located near Bakersfield in Southern California, has announced it will welcome guests to its slopes and lifts for the first time in two years.
"YAHHH! We have an Opening Day Planned. February 21-22!" wrote Alta Sierra in a Facebook post on Tuesday. "We received over 15" of fresh snow yesterday with more storms forecasted for Thursday, February 19."
According to OpenSnow, Alta Sierra could record another 15-17 inches of snow through Thursday, bringing the resort's week-long storm total to more than three feet.
The ski area was not able to open during the Winter 23/24 and Winter 24/25 seasons due to a lack of natural snowfall. This week's storm, which has dumped more than 60 inches of snow at ski resorts like Mammoth and Palisades Tahoe, certainly delivered.

Adult lift tickets will cost $70, and children aged 4-12 can ski for $60. Lifts are expected to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the majority of the ski area's terrain open.
For all of our readers in SoCal, get up there and enjoy Alta Sierra while you can. Here's hoping the ski area can remain open for more weekends in February and March, but you never know.
