After deputy’s car is shot, Rolling Hills Estates neighborhood on lockdown
Authorities are searching for whoever shot at a deputy’s patrol car in Rolling Hills Estates on Sunday, Feb. 22.
The deputy was checking on a report that multiple vehicles were speeding when he heard a pop from his car in the 600 block of Deep Valley Drive just after 9 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
He got out of his car and found a bullet hole on the passenger side of the trunk hatch with no exit hole. He was not injured in the shooting, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies and police from area departments contained the area. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are continuing to search for anyone who was involved.
Officials ask that the community avoid Silver Spur Road between Crenshaw and Hawthorne boulevards. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lomita Station at 310-539-1661.
