The Cognizant Classic has a prize pot of $9.6 million, making it one of the season's most important events for golf professionals. As the tournament kicks off, the sports experts have given their final odds on which PGA pro will reign supreme.
Ryan Gerard Is The Favorite to Win The Cognizant Classic
According to SportsLine, American golfer Ryan Gerard has the highest odds of winning the upcoming classic. He's currently 26th in the overall rankings of the PGA Tour, but he's been on a hot streak lately that's likely to continue.
Behind Gerrard are Shane Lowry, Nicolai Højgaard, Rasmus Højgaard, and Brooks Koepka. The site also predicts 18-year-old Blades Brown as a potential underdog following his strong performance earlier in the season.
SportsLine's algorythm for predicting the Cognizant Classic reportedly "simulates every PGA Tour tournament 10,000 times, and has a lengthy history of being extremely profitable."
The biggest surprise of the simulations was the underperformance of Shane Lowry, who is the second favorite in official odds—he also won the 2019 Open Championship.
Conversely, only one of six PGA experts on the sport's official website predicts Gerard to actually win the event. Nicolai Højgaard is their favorite, with 50% of betting experts choosing him as their pick. The remaining two opted for Michael Thorbjornsen and Shane Lowry.
