Gerber just dropped a new pocket field sharpener last week, and it’s pretty sweet. This compact sharpener consists of three sharpening surfaces, a 220 diamond-coated coarse grit flat side for honing edges, a 600 diamond grit fine side for refining edges, and a ceramic honing rod. All three surfaces fit inside a rotating cylinder. Simply rotate the barrel to expose whatever sharpening surface you want to use.

The three sharpening sufaces rotate inside a frame that doubles as a built in 20 degree edge angle for precision sharpening. Simple rotate the rod to work through each level of sharpening. Start by using the 220-grit diamond surface to sharpen a dull edge before twisting the sharpener to 600-grit to refine the edge. Then finish up with the honing rod to align the edge.
The whole sharpener is small enough to slip into a pocket. It weighs just 2.9 ounces and measures just over 7 inches long and less than an inch in diameter. Gerber’s selling this pack sharpener for $25. It’s a great field sharpener that offers more precision than pull through sharpeners with fixed angles.
