Pakistan army says 15 militants killed in Balochistan operations
The Pakistan Army says at least 15 militants were killed in two separate security operations in the southwestern province of Balochistan.
According to a military statement, an intelligence-based operation in the Harnai district killed 12 suspected militants and resulted in the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
In a separate operation in the Basima area of Balochistan, security forces killed three more militants during an exchange of fire with armed fighters.
The military described the militants as part of what it called “Indian-backed insurgents,” a term Pakistani authorities often use for Baloch separatist groups.
Pakistan’s military said clearance operations are continuing in the area to eliminate remaining militants and prevent further attacks against security forces.
Balochistan has long faced an insurgency by separatist groups seeking greater autonomy or independence from Pakistan. According to reports, attacks targeting security forces and infrastructure frequently occur in the province.
Security officials say continued counter-militant operations are aimed at stabilizing the region and preventing further violence in Pakistan’s resource-rich but volatile province.
