From heat to thunderstorms: Sharp weather change in Astana and Almaty

Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet meteorologists have shared the forecast for Astana and Almaty for the next three days – June 18 to 20.

Astana weather forecast

June 18: Partly cloudy skies. Rain is expected during the day, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Southern and southeastern winds at 2–7 m/s at night, strengthening to 9–14 m/s during the day. Nighttime temperatures will range from +19 to +21°C, with extreme daytime heat reaching +34 to +36°C.

Hot and unstable conditions are expected.

June 19: Partly cloudy with occasional rain and thunderstorms. Hail is again possible during the day. Southwesterly winds at 9–14 m/s, with gusts up to 15–18 m/s. Temperatures will be +20 to +22°C at night and will cool slightly during the day to +26 to +28°C.

The heat will ease slightly, but winds will pick up.

June 20: Partly cloudy skies will continue, with occasional rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail. Southwesterly winds at 9–14 m/s, gusting up to 15–20 m/s in the daytime. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +18 to +20°C, with daytime highs of +23 to +25°C.

A continued drop in temperature with strong winds is expected.

Almaty weather forecast

June 18: Partly cloudy with no precipitation. Winds from the southwest, shifting to northwest, at 3–8 m/s. Nighttime temperatures between +21 and +23°C, and daytime highs reaching +34 to +36°C.

The peak of the heat wave will begin.

June 19: No rain expected. Partly cloudy skies with southeastern winds at 3–8 m/s. Temperatures will be +22 to +24°C at night and soar to +37 to +39°C during the day.

It will be one of the hottest days of the summer so far.

June 20: Partly cloudy with rain and thunderstorms during the day. Northwest winds at 3–8 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will be +24 to +26°C, with daytime cooling to +29 to +31°C.

The heat will begin to subside, though rainfall may affect daytime plans.
