Storm warnings and fire risk issued for Almaty and several regions

Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has issued weather warnings for July 8 across a number of regions in Kazakhstan.

According to Kazhydromet, atmospheric frontal systems will continue to cause unstable weather patterns. Rain and thunderstorms are forecast in the north, east, and southeast of the country, with heavy rain expected in the east and a chance of hail during the day. Elsewhere, under the influence of an anticyclone ridge, dry weather will prevail. Strong winds are forecast across much of the country, with squalls possible in the east.

Almaty - Extreme fire danger will persist.

Shymkent - Extreme fire danger is also expected.

Akmola Region - Thunderstorms and hail are expected, with northerly and northeasterly winds gusting to 15–20 m/s in the north and east during the day.

Almaty Region - Thunderstorms are expected, with southwesterly winds and gusts up to 15–20 m/s in the mountainous areas. Daytime temperatures will remain high at around 35 °C. An extreme fire danger will persist in the west, north, south, and central parts of the region, while a high fire danger is forecast for the east.

Turkestan Region - Winds will shift from northwesterly to northeasterly, with gusts of 15–20 m/s in the mountains. In the west of the region, daytime highs will reach 40 °C. Extreme fire danger remains across the region.

Aktobe Region - Extreme fire danger will persist, while high fire danger is forecast in the south and southeast.

Pavlodar Region - Thunderstorms are expected with northwesterly winds gusting to 15–20 m/s in the north and east.

Kyzylorda Region - A dust storm is expected, with northerly and northeasterly winds reaching 15–20 m/s in the north and center of the region during the day. Extreme fire danger will persist.

Kostanay Region - Thunderstorms are forecast, with northwesterly and westerly winds reaching 15–20 m/s in the south and east during the day. Extreme fire danger will remain in the southwest of the region.

Zhambyl Region - Thunderstorms are expected, with northeasterly winds gusting to 15–20 m/s in the mountainous areas. Extreme fire danger will persist across the region.

Atyrau Region - Temperatures are expected to reach 35 °C, with high fire danger throughout the region.

Zhetysu Region - Northwesterly winds are expected, with gusts of 15–20 m/s in the east. In the east and north, daytime highs will remain at 35–37 °C. From July 8–10, an extreme fire danger will persist.

East Kazakhstan Region - Periods of heavy rain are expected. Thunderstorms are forecast overnight in the north, with thunderstorms, hail, and squalls possible during the day in the west, north, and east. Winds will shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, with gusts of 15–20 m/s overnight in the north, and daytime gusts of up to 23 m/s in the north, south, and center. High fire danger will persist in the center and south of the region.

Abai Region - Thunderstorms are expected, with hail and squalls possible in the east, south, and center during the day. Westerly and northwesterly winds will gust to 15–20 m/s overnight in the north and center, and up to 23 m/s during the day in the north, east, and south. Extreme fire danger will persist in the south of the region.

Mangystau Region - High fire danger will remain, with extreme fire danger in the northwest.

Ulytau Region - Extreme fire danger will persist, while high fire danger is forecast in the central part.

Karaganda Region - Extreme fire danger will persist.

West Kazakhstan Region - High fire danger is expected.

Earlier, Kazhydromet released the weather forecast for July 2025 in Kazakhstan. July will be marked by unstable weather. Most regions are expected to see rain, including heavy showers, along with thunderstorms, hail, and squally winds.

In the south of the country, intense and extreme heat is forecast. In some areas, dust storms are possible. The fire hazard level remains critical in these regions.
